LendLease, Magellan Unveil Revised Lakeshore East Plan
LendLease Development and Magellan Development Group have presented a revised proposal for their Lakeshore East residential development, following objections last December by Ald. Brendan Reilly over the initial plan. As before, the plan includes up to 1,700 residential units in three high-rises. However, among other things, the new proposal adds more open space and drops plans for a 300-key hotel.
The revised proposal comes “after more than a year of thoughtful dialogue with Ald. Reilly, neighboring residents and other community stakeholders,” said LendLease’s Thomas Weeks.
“Through this collaborative process, we believe we have identified the highest and best use for one of the final phases of the Lakeshore East master plan, building on its reputation as a model for urban regeneration.”
Under Chicago tradition, the City Council won’t approve a zoning change for a real estate development within a ward without the approval of the ward’s alderman.
