Lendlease, CMK Divide Riverline Into Two Separate Projects

Two years into their $2-billion partnership on the Riverline residential development in Chicago’s River South neighborhood, Lendlease and CMK Companies have decided to move forward with two separate projects, one to the north of the existing River City building, and one to the south. Combined, the two projects could deliver more than 3,700 new apartments.

Lendlease and CMK have collaborated to create “a leading-edge master plan for the entire site,” said Tom Weeks at Lendlease. “Now that this has been achieved, we have jointly determined that, to create a truly diverse mixed-use environment, each company will focus on developing its own separate precinct which will showcase our respective development styles.”

CMK will develop the eight-acre south parcel, which will continue to be known as Riverline. Lendlease will move forward with the seven-acre north parcel, and is due to deliver the first of five residential high-rises this summer.
