Legoland Planning Second Themed Hotel

Legoland theme park in Carlsbad has reportedly submitted plans to build a second hotel. While still early in the design and development approval process, the proposal features a three-story hotel with 250 Lego-themed rooms and suites.  The opening is scheduled for 2018.

Company executives say the new hotel will resemble a castle, including turrets, themed rooms, Lego models and interactive features. It will reportedly be built on a current parking lot located west of the existing Legoland Hotel, in front of the Sea Life Aquarium.

A full-service restaurant and gift shop, swimming pool and outdoor play areas are all part of the plan. Demand has been high for the existing hotel, which has averaged 80 percent occupancy since opening two years ago.
