Legal Sea Foods Making Chicago Debut at Marina City Towers
East Coast seafood restaurant Legal Sea Foods, is opening its 25th location and the first one in Illinois, at the Marina City towers on the Chicago River. The restaurant will replace space previously held by Dick’s Last Resort.
The property at 315 N. Dearborn Street has been cleared, and Legal Sea Foods is planning a chic design for the riverfront dining room. There will be two levels of indoor and outdoor dining, bars, and private dining rooms. The menu will feature classic New England dishes, including clam chowder, fresh oysters, shellfish, and Maine lobster.
The restaurant chain started in 1950 as a fish market in the Inman Square neighborhood in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It is owned by PPX Hospitality, the Boston-based group that also owns Smith & Wollensky Restaurant Group. When Legal Sea Foods opens in Chicago, Smith & Wollensky will be its neighbor at the base of Marina City.
