Legacy Companies Proposes 1.2M-SF Downtown Bellevue Development
Legacy Companies proposed Bellevue Straits, a 1.2-million-square-foot mixed-use development in Bellevue. The two-tower office, retail and restaurant project sits within Downtown Bellevue’s new zoning code at 530 112th Ave. N.E., and is envisioned to play an integral part in a plan to create a crossroads through Bellevue.
Legacy Companies’ Walter Scott says, “Because of the zoning and the relationship with the city and the fact that it is an unpainted canvas, [this] is a real opportunity to build something iconic and truly memorable in terms of architecture and function.”
The city is eying building a pedestrian link across the I-405 freeway to the Wilburton neighborhood east of the development site. That would provide access to leisure and retail amenities on each side, and allow for the CBD to expand eastward.
Bellevue Straits is also planned to include up to 80,000 square feet of retail, primarily F&B establishments, which will add life to Bellevue in the evening. The project is set to deliver in August 2023, around the time Sound Transit’s Downtown Bellevue station opens.
