Leander Springs proposal kaput

Leander Pulls Plug on $1B Development

Leander Springs was supposed to feature a four-acre crystal lagoon, restaurants, retail, entertainment, hotels, apartments and offices. Looks like it’s not going to happen. The city of Leander has pulled out of a deal that would have produced the $1 billion Leander Springs development, after nearly four years of planning and negotiating with the project’s developers. The site for the proposed development is at the southwest corner of RM 2243 and 183A.

Leander Springs developers were required to complete construction on 35,000 square feet of commercial property as well as the lagoon portion by December 2023.

Community Impact reports Leander officials sent a notice of termination letter to the Leander Springs developers March 18. The developer, iLand Development, still owns the property but zoning that would allow the key components has been terminated and any incentives have expired.
