LBJ’s Former Press/Secret Service Housing Hits the Market
The Stonewall Motor Lodge, a hotel built in 1964 to house members of the US Secret Service and White House press corps during Lyndon Johnson’s presidency, is for sale. Marcus & Millichap’s Hospitality Division has the listing. The hotel is being listed for $2.5 million.
The property spans 2.9 tree-lined acres and comprises 12 remodeled rooms, four cabins and four recreational vehicle slots. It’s 15 miles from Fredericksburg. The hotel is located in the heart of the Texas Hill Wine Country trail, amid 75 wineries, breweries, distilleries, restaurants and other attractions. Extensive renovations made in 2019 include plumbing, electrical systems, insulation, windows and doors and all the bathrooms. A new roof was recently added.
Among the dignitaries who stayed at the inn were Walter Cronkite, Jimmy Carter, Carol Channing, Gregory Peck, Anthony Perkins, Douglas MacArthur, Sen. Ted Kennedy, and Buzz Aldrin.
