Lawyers in Real Estate 2020: Holland & Knight’s Stuart Saft

Stuart Saft, who serves as Partner of Holland & Knight, has a formidable career, accumulating substantial experience in the commercial real estate industry, especially in areas of development, financing, leasing, conversion-to-condominium, and cooperative ownership. This is in addition to his knowledge in matters such as exchange, syndication, sale-leaseback, timeshare, restructuring, acquisition and sale of multiple property types throughout the U.S.

Saft has represented a number of high-profile organizations and clients, representing the developer of Baccarat Hotels & Residences in New York, the Downtown W Hotel and Residences, and the Bryant Hotel and Residences. He has also negotiated the lease of headquarters for a global insurance company, and represented the holder of senior debt in a $300 million debt restructuring of a hotel development property in Las Vegas.

He utilized the experience in the industry and shared it with others, having written 40 books on Commercial Real Estate and more than 100 articles on the subject, as well as on economics and finance. One of his books, “Commercial Real Estate Workouts,” has been published by Thomas Reuters Westlaw and is in its third edition.

It’s for these reasons that we named Stuart Saft to our inaugural grouping of Lawyers in Real Estate. These are real estate attorneys who have distinguished themselves in both their practice and the larger community.
