Lawyers in Real Estate 2020: Coblentz’s Pamela Duffy
At Coblentz Patch Duffy & Bass LLP, Pamela S. Duffy’s practice focuses on public policy issues and commercial real estate, land use, and development, with a particular emphasis on large public and private partnerships. The San Francisco-based partner has acted as lead counsel for numerous major development projects, including one of the largest rebuilding projects in San Francisco history, the $2.5-billion Sutter Health/California Pacific Medical Center, which includes five campuses and two new hospitals spread across the city. She is currently the lead counsel for the L.A. Clippers’ new Inglewood, CA arena.
Duffy is renowned for her in-depth understanding of the long-term implications of development requirements and how they affect construction, financing, operation, leasing, and sale of a development project. Colleagues say she is unusually skilled at helping clients find elegant solutions to the challenges that arise in the development of complex public/private projects.
An elected member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, the Pacific Council on International Policy, and the International Women’s Forum, Duffy serves on the Board of Directors of the National Advisory Council of the Institute of Governmental Studies at the University of California, Berkeley.
She’s a member of the Advisory Board of the College of Natural & Social Sciences at California State University, Los Angeles. She has received numerous state and local honors and recognitions as well as served as a visiting lecturer at many law schools and universities including UCLA, Harvard, MIT, and Yale, and has taught three undergraduate seminars at UC Berkeley.
It’s for these reasons that we named Pamela Duffy to our inaugural grouping of Lawyers in Real Estate. These are real estate attorneys who have distinguished themselves in both their practice and the larger community.
