Lawyers in Real Estate 2020: CGS3’s Marjorie Burchett
With an extensive background in commercial real estate law, Marjorie Burchett has worked for some of the San Diego region’s top law firms over a career spanning 35 years. She began her career at Luce Forward and McKenna Long (now Dentons). Immediately prior to joining Crosbie Gliner Schiffman Southard & Swanson LLP (CGS3) in 2019, she was a partner in the San Diego offices of Withers Bergman LLP.
Burchett has successfully worked with major residential, resort, commercial, mixed-use and master-planned development projects over the past 30 years. The CGS3 partner’s current and past clients include individuals, corporate investors and developers, lenders, receivers and private equity investors.
She has also acted as national counsel to institutional investors, providing counsel on all aspects of the acquisition, rehabilitation and leasing of their holdings. Additionally, Burchett has a special interest in title insurance matters and has co-authored a CEB treatise on the subject. She frequently speaks on an array of real estate topics, and enjoys sharing her knowledge and experience with others and is active in industry groups and committees for the benefit of her clients.
Burchett is actively involved in the San Diego community. Her deep passion for helping improve the lives of the less fortunate leads her to serve in many ways, including a camp for orphans in Baja California.
It’s for these reasons that we named Marjorie Burchett to our inaugural grouping of Lawyers in Real Estate. These are real estate attorneys who have distinguished themselves in both their practice and the larger community.
