Lawyers in Real Estate 2020: Stroock Stroock & Lavan’s Kim Pagotto

Stroock Stroock & Lavan partner Kim Pagotto is regarded as one of the leading authorities in government real estate matters, and also handles private sector real estate transactions for leading developers, Fortune 500 clients, and domestic and international businesses. Based in Washington, DC, Pagotto is a key member of one of the only teams in the U.S. with the highly specialized hybrid experience required to advise on U.S. government real estate deals, especially General Services Administration leasing.

As an example, over the past year Pagotto represented Tishman Speyer Properties in two simultaneous leases to the District of Columbia and the GSA in Washington, DC, balancing various levels of government requirements and procurements. Pagotto also assisted Tishman Speyer with lease administration issues for both leases as construction and delivery have occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic.

She also advised Easterly Government Properties on all of its acquisitions across the country, which this year included 10 transactions totaling roughly $300 million. These transactions included significant government buildings across seven cities, five states, and five government departments, including the FBI, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

Since March, Pagotto has headed Stroock’s coronavirus task force, leading a group that has put the firm among the foremost thought leaders regarding COVID-19’s impact on the industry, producing numerous client alerts, webinars and other events, as well as frequently being quoted in the media.

As a board member of Miriam’s Kitchen, Pagotto has worked for many years to end chronic and veteran homelessness in the nation’s capital by providing nutritious meals and advocating for the D.C. government to make investments in the housing programs that are most proven to end homelessness.

It’s for these reasons that we named Kim Pagotto to our inaugural grouping of Lawyers in Real Estate. These are real estate attorneys who have distinguished themselves in both their practice and the larger community.
