Lathrop Mixed-Income Complex Reopens Waitlist for Affordable Units

Lathrop Community Partners, a development group including Related Midwest, has reopened the waitlist for affordable apartments at the Lathrop residential project situated between Bucktown and Roscoe Village. The redevelopment of the former Julia C. Lathrop Homes opened last fall as a mixed-income community that includes public, affordable and market-rate housing along with significant green and open space.

“We are excited to continue welcoming new residents to Lathrop,” says Curt Bailey, president of Related Midwest. “Related is proud to bring quality affordable housing to this vibrant and diverse community where families can enjoy open green space and a number of fun, engaging amenities for all ages.”

The redevelopment was a partnership between Lathrop Community Partners, which also include Bickerdike Redevelopment Corporation and Heartland Housing, and the Chicago Housing Authority. It has 1,116 rental apartments, including 494 at market rate. Related Midwest was selected in 2010 to head the redevelopment effort.
