Latest Wrongful Death Lawsuit Points to NRG Park Operator, Others

As lawsuits begin mounting up against rapper Travis Scott, Live Nation and others after the death of eight concert goers at NRG Park, the latest suit is being brought by Texas attorneys Steve Hastings and Henry Blackmon of the Hastings Law Firm. This legal action is aimed at Scott, Cactus Jack Records, Scoremore and the operators of NRG Park in connection with the tragedies at the Astroworld music festival last week.

The case is filed on behalf of Maria Pena of Harris County, TX for the death of her 23-year-old son, Rudy Pena. The lawsuit asserts numerous issues amount to negligence and gross negligence of the defendants, and seeks more than $1 million in damages.

The lawsuit alleges that early during the event, concertgoers breached perimeter barriers to enter the venue and later crowds rushed the stage while Scott performed. The allegations further indicate the overcrowding left attendees gasping for air with some losing consciousness. Despite these events unfolding and while emergency vehicles attempted to reach those in distress, the show went on, according to the lawsuit.

Live Nation, the promoter behind the festival, also has a history of safety violations, according to USA Today.
