Last-Mile Logistics Coming to Brooklyn
JLL has been named exclusive leasing agent for what will be Brooklyn’s first last-mile distribution center. Called the Brooklyn Logistics Center, the two-building, automated industrial complex is slated to open in October 2019.
“Amazon, Walmart and a generation of e-commerce competitors are in a high-speed race,” said Adam Gordon of Wildflower Ltd. “Large, modern and automated warehouses located in major urban areas are essential to this strategy. Until now, New York has been late to adopt this necessary new model of last-mile warehousing.”
Following last year’s $187-million sale of part of its self-storage portfolio, Wildflower and its sister company, Madison Development (both owned by Gordon and Matt Dicker), have been quietly building self-storage and industrial product in New York City.
The JLL team overseeing the Brooklyn Logistics Center leasing assignment includes Rob Kossar, vice chairman and head of the firm’s Northeast industrial region, and Leslie Lanne, managing director.
