Las Vegas Council Approves 30-Year Master Plan
The Las Vegas City Council has formally adopted a 30-year master plan to help guide development downtown. The new plan, which was two years in the making, replaces an existing master plan that was created in 2000.
Formal adoption means city planners can formulate an implementation plan, which will be presented to the City Council by the end of the year.
The vision’s goal is to boost downtown’s live-work-play environment by improving economic opportunities and appearance. The plan calls for improvements to the metro’s medical district (Charleston Boulevard), West Las Vegas, the area surrounding the Cashman Center, and an area south of the Fremont East entertainment district. Another focus is a “green” Las Vegas, adding plenty of parks and open spaces.
