Distinct Mixed-Use Tower Planned Near Santana Row

Volar, an architecturally-striking new mixed-use tower, is on tap for San Jose. Architect Salvatore Caruso says the building’s design was inspired by the wings of a falcon and includes a circular top-floor restaurant under a glass oculus.

Totaling 25 stories, the new structure will be near the Santana Row retail center, and not in downtown San Jose, which is a departure from the norm. Volar will include 330 residential units and about 50,000 square feet of commercial space.

Sharon and David Seto bought the site a few years ago, and are the developers, while Renee Kwan, is another investor on the deal. An unnamed Hong Kong-based investor is also involved.

Volar is now awaiting city planning approval, as are other projects near Santana Row.
