Landing at An Airport Near You: FAA Funding
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has been busy in 2017, approving grants through it is Airport Improvement Plan (AIP), which helps fund capital projects. Airports are entitled to a certain amount of AIP funding each year, based on passenger volume. And, if the entitlement funds aren’t enough for the airport needs, the FAA can supplement with discretionary funds.
Here are some grant disbursements taking place in Texas:
- Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, Austin: $10.8 million to expand the terminal apron for additional aircraft parking space.
- El Paso International, El Paso: $11.6 million for runway reconstruction.
- Fort Worth Alliance, Fort Worth: $10 million for runway extension.
- San Antonio International, San Antonio: $6 million to sound-insulate homes near the airport.
- Tyler Pounds Regional, Tyler: $10.1 million for runway repair.
- Valley International, Harlingen: $2.1 million to extend the taxiway.
