Lakeway Z&P to Legend Communities: Nope

In mid-March, 2018, Lakeway City Center developer Legend Communities indicated it wanted to expand and rezone to 63 acres at Lohmans Crossing Road in this Austin suburb. However, the Lakeway Zoning and Planning Commission recommended that the city council deny the planned unit development rezoning request for the project.

The issue with the commissioners was the project’s density. The 63-acre property was to have contained office, retail and residential space, as well as a hotel, parking garages and parks. The acreage is currently zoned for government, utility and institutional development. The development has generated a great deal of debate throughout Lakeway.

Legend Communities indicated it wouldn’t seek a council vote on its current proposal before the May 5 election.
