Lakers Getting Large New Practice Facility
The Lakers have been bouncing around different practice facilities without a permanent one for decades, but now the team will have a permanent home in El Segundo.
The 122,000-square-foot facility will have two stories and is expected by the Lakers administration to cost $80 million. A spring 2017 opening date is forecast.
Architecture firm Rossetti is the lead architect, while Perkins+Will is the associate firm designing the new building, which is expected to get LEED Gold certification. The glass and steel facility will also have the Lakers’ logo on the roof and should be visible to passengers flying into LAX.
