La Porte Hospital Breaks Ground on $125M Campus

La Porte Hospital and community officials in La Porte, IN turned over the first shovels of dirt where a new hospital will be built over the next two years. With a projected cost of $125 million, the new facility will be the first to be built in this northwestern Indiana city since the current one opened in 1972.

“There is a rich history of healthcare in the La Porte community dating back to the 1800s, when local physicians started the state’s first medical college here,” said La Porte Hospital CEO Ashley Dickinson.

Birmingham, AL-based Robins & Morton will serve as general contractor. The $125-million investment is part of a $140-million commitment made possible through La Porte Hospital’s affiliation with Community Health Systems in March 2016.

The new facility is expected to open in 2020,and will include space to accommodate future growth.
