La Madre to Open New Minneapolis Mill District Restaurant
Sherman Associates announced La Madre, a Puerto Vallarta-inspired Mexican restaurant, will open on the east corner of Washington Avenue and Park Avenue at 205 Park Avenue. The 5,000-square-foot restaurant will become the neighborhood’s first Mexican restaurant and offer an expansive menu of entrees, small plates, shareable plates, and seafood.
The Ponce family, which began serving Mexican street food in the Twin Cities years ago, is behind the new venture. La Madre will have a chef-curated menu providing a modern take on traditional Mexican entrees, small plates, and shareables with plenty of seafood and exotic Mexican cuisine options.
La Madre, meaning “the mother” in Spanish, is both the essence and inspiration of the new restaurant. La Madre will be located at the street level of The Vicinity Apartments, owned and operated by Sherman. Sherman has a multifamily portfolio in the Mill District and the company’s headquarters are in the J.I. Case Building.
