LA Likes Lena’s City Market MXU
Lena Group received an approval from the Los Angeles City Council to redevelop a 10-acre Fashion District site into a mixed-use complex. City Market is envisioned to convert a longtime produce market into a series of low-rise and high-rise buildings, ranging in height from three to 38 stories.
The development plan calls for nearly 950 residential units, a 210-room hotel, a 300,000-square-foot educational institution, and 225,000 square feet of commercial space for retail, restaurants and a multiplex theater.
The project, being designed by HansonLA, features a series of internal paseos that connect various components on the site at Ninth, San Pedro, 12th and San Julian streets. City Market’s series of angular glass and steel buildings are planned to rise to a maximum height of 454 feet above ground level. Construction is envisioned to take place over the course of two decades, and could cost up to $1 billion.
