L Catterton Acquires Uncle Julio’s Restaurant Chain
L Catterton, a private equity firm headquartered in Greenwich, CT, acquired Uncle Julio’s, a polished casual Mexican restaurant chain, which has its headquarters in Dallas. “Polished casual” designates a restaurant that is between casual and fine dining. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The restaurant chain was launched in 1986, and currently operates 29 restaurants in seven states. Executives agreed to the acquisition in order to expand; the company is planning more units in existing and new markets. Uncle Julio’s president and CEL Tom Vogel noted that L Catterton’s experience in the consumer food and beverage industries made it a good choice “to help us execute our growth strategy.”
L Catterton’s current and past investments include P.F. Chang’s, Hopdoddy, Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza, Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen and Velvet Taco.
