L.A. County Leaders Call for More City Collaboration on Homelessness
Cities across Los Angeles County are being challenged to work more collaboratively to solve a growing homelessness issue. The L.A. County Board of Supervisors voted this week to find ways to address what is becoming a larger regional problem.
Among the initiatives proposed include streamlining the process to get more of the $355 million in Measure H funds into the hands of cities and agencies that work with homeless people. That would include better communication and more data sharing across government entities.
Regular listening sessions are being called for to find customized solutions in a county encompassing 88 separate cities. Supervisors believe that an easier contracting process will increase city participation in programs.
The County requested a staff report on the ideas for improvement in 30 days.
