L.A. County Adds 2,300 Jobs
L.A. County is adding about 2,300 jobs as part of a newly passed $27.1 billion budget. The majority of additions will be in the Sheriff’s Department and the Department of Children and Family Services.
The county is also raising wages for about 140,000 employees who assist elderly and disabled patients.
Additionally, the county’s administration has come up with a $27 billion plan to slowly pay off retiree healthcare benefits that it owes. Ratings agencies had warned that these costs were potentially going to damage the county’s credit.
