L.A. and Vegas Hyperloop Train Set to Begin Testing
While the physical distance between the Los Angeles and Las Vegas is not going to change, the possibility of shortening the trek between the two cities is getting closer to fruition.
Hyperloop Technologies, along with the Nevada state government, is building a facility that will test the capability of a speed train to travel between both cities. From investors, the company has raised $37 million and is expecting an additional $80 million from bond financing to make this a reality.
A track will be installed this month in North Las Vegas and testing will begin next year with the hope of being fully operational by 2017. Nevada officials are also trying to attract Faraday Future to assist in the project.
Although the technology was proposed by Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk, he is reportedly not directly involved in the project.
