Kroger Ready to Open Austin Distribution Center

The distribution center will not provide products to any Austin stores, but will instead serve as a base for home deliveries of groceries right to the door. Using bots, which are operated by software to perform automated, repetitive tasks, the products are retrieved from the facility and are then sorted for delivery. After being packed, groceries are delivered via refrigerated vans to customers. Kroger’s is the nations largest grocery store chain.

The new site at 2041 Ferguson Lane is near completion. The 70,000 square foot grocery distribution center is expected to create 161 jobs.

The new site is near a number of other large company distribution buildings including Pepsi, Party Time Beverages and Target.

Finishing work begins June 1 with completion slated for September 30 of 2022.
