Kroger Coming to the Arts District

A new Kroger store is coming to the edge of the Dallas Arts District, and might be bringing some apartments with it. Specifically, the grocer teamed up with local apartment builder Trinsic Residential Group to build 375 units atop a Kroger store at Hall and Flora Streets. The plan, designed by Dallas architect GFF, still awaits the city’s approval.

The Kroger plan is part of an overall trend combining grocery stores with apartments. In Dallas alone, four new projects combine apartments and a grocery store. Whole Foods Market’s store in the Uptown submarket has 200 apartments, and the $200 million Union tower project going north on Akard Street comes with a 60,000-square-foot Tom Thumb supermarket.
