Lotte Plaza to open Jax store

Korean “Hypermarket” to Open in Jacksonville

Lotte Plaza Market is taking over the former Best Buy at 9355 Atlantic Blvd. in Jacksonville and will build one of its hypermarkets. Plans call for a nearly $9 million renovation of the vacant 45,799-square-foot store, which occupies almost 3.4 acres at the Regency property off of Atlantic. The opening is slated for early next year.

Casco of St. Louis is the architect and engineer who will oversee the interior, exterior and site renovations for the new Lotte Plaza Market.

Site plans call for grocery, meat, seafood and produce sections, as well as a food court serviced by assorted eateries.

Lotte Plaza is one of the largest hypermarket chains in Asia, selling a variety of groceries, clothing, toys, electronics and other goods as a combined grocery and department store. Since opening in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, on April 1, 1998, Lotte has expanded to a national and international powerhouse that operated 111 domestic and 64 international stores as of 2023.
