Komatsu America Relocates HQ from Suburbs to Downtown
Komatsu America Corp. will move its company headquarters to Chicago, after 11 years in suburban Rolling Meadows, IL. The relocation is expected to take place in 2020.
Komatsu’s new headquarters site, its seventh since 1970, will be at Equity Commonwealth’s Triangle Plaza and will feature a new, open floorplan, designed to foster more collaboration and cross-functional team communication. Among other features, it will offer easier access to O’Hare Airport. Square footage and lease terms were not disclosed.
“There’s something for everyone in this move,” said Rod Schrader, chairman and CEO of Komatsu America. “Current employees will enjoy the building amenities and convenience to major transportation, the new floorplan supports the company’s efforts to break down team and workstream silos, and the move helps Komatsu remain competitive and attractive to prospective employees living in the city and studying at nearby universities.”
