Kitchen United Will Expand Chicago Base to Fulton Market

Kitchen United, a startup that leases space to restaurants and food entrepreneurs, has signed a lease for 12,700 square feet at 201 N. Elizabeth St. in the Fulton Market District, Crain’s Chicago Business reported. Expected to open in early 2020, the new space will be Kitchen United’s second Chicago location and will accommodate 10 to 15 lessees.

Chicago was the first market that Kitchen United entered when it expanded beyond its hometown of Pasadena, CA, opening last January in River North. When the Fulton Market site was announced last month, the company also revealed plans to open in Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Longer term, Kitchen United plans to operate 15 locations by the end of 2019 and have 40 open by the end of 2020, Crain’s reported. The company has received $10 million in funding from GV (formerly Google Ventures), the venture-capital arm of Alphabet.
