Kimpton Rouge Hotel to Get $20M Renovation

Washington D.C.’s Kimpton Rouge Hotel is headed for a $20 million repositioning and remodel. The hotel will close Jan. 17 and reopen under a new name that has yet to be announced.

Kemmons Wilson Cos. and Valor Hospitality Partners acquired the hotel in September for $42 million from Pebblebrook Hotel Trust. The hotel opened in 2002 and is located nearby the Dupont Circle Metro station. The renovation project will be headed up by design firms Mason Studio and BBGM, as well as general contractor First Finish.

Renovations are planned to include a new carpet, wall coverings, furniture, lighting and a bathroom remodel. The hotel will add a new restaurant as well as a new patio area and a rooftop bar. The renovation will also raise the hotel’s room count from 137 to 144.
