Kimco Pitches Changes for Arlington Shopping Center Redevelopment

Kimco Realty Corp. has proposed changes to its redevelopment plan for the Pentagon Centre in Arlington, near Amazon’s HQ2. The plan includes increasing density by over three-quarters, from about 2 million to 3.5 million square feet, with more residential and office space but less retail.

The current plan, amended in 2015, included two residential towers and future phases for office towers, a hotel, and new retail and open space. The new proposal adds nearly 1,200 residential units, 333,000 square feet of office space, a larger hotel, and reduces the retail footprint.

The Pentagon Centre is not included in Arlington’s sector plan for Pentagon City, which guides development, but the plan was voided and could be remedied.
