Kick-Off Set for Tarleton State Stadium Renovation

A $26.4 million renovation and expansion of Tarleton State University’s Memorial Stadium is on tap. A special pre-football game event to kick off the renovation will take place on Sept. 23, 2017, at the stadium in Stephenville, TX. Tarleton is a founding member of the Texas A&M University System.

The Texas A&M System Board of Regents authorized $24 million in September 2015 for the project. Texas entrepreneur and Tarleton alum Mike A. Myers donated an additional $2.4 million in spring 2017. The renovation will focus on the press box, suites, entrances and ticket booths, and is anticipated to be completed by fall 2018.

Memorial Stadium was built in the 1940s, and opened in 1951. A major reconstruction took place in 1977, with seating expanded in 1989. That year also saw renovation of the concession stand, as well as a new field house.
