Kendall’s Goose Island Campus to be Repurposed as Office Space

Savills Studley has been hired by Laureate Education to sublease Kendall College’s soon-to-be-vacated Goose Island campus as office space. National Louis University closed on the sale and transfer of Kendall’s culinary and hospitality programs this past Monday, with plans to transfer the programs, as well as Kendall’s students, to its downtown campus.

Most of those students will be at the Goose Island campus for one more year, though. National Louis, which owns five floors at the Peoples Gas Building at 122 S. Michigan Ave., hopes to add a sixth floor to accommodate the Kendall operations.

Baltimore-based Laureate, which operates a national network of for-profit colleges, acquired Kendall for an undisclosed sum in 2008, then sold it to National Louis for $1. It will pay National Louis up to $14 million in construction costs to facilitate build-out of the additional floor.
