Kendall College Will Sublease Goose Island Campus
For-profit culinary and hospitality school Kendall College is preparing to exit the Goose Island campus it has occupied for more than a decade, and has engaged Savills Studley’s Robert Savim to sublease the space. Kendall is expected to move to the Michigan Avenue campus of National Louis University, which is acquiring its degree programs, in early 2019.
The neighborhood that Kendall will be vacating has been transitioning from an industrial hub into a mixed-use destination, with a number of developers taking advantage of a change in land-use rules along the North Branch of the Chicago River. However, the Kendall campus’ 189,000 square feet is likely to become available before new construction is finished.
“It sets up so well for a company that wants to have a really unique environment, parking and signage,” Sevim told Crain’s Chicago Business. He anticipates demand for the space from the tech sector.
