Kaiser Permanente Reaches Tentative Deal with Striking Unions
Kaiser Permanente has reached a tentative deal with the Coalition of Kaiser Permanente Unions following the largest walkout in U.S. healthcare history. The agreement is expected to be ratified Oct. 18.
“The new four-year agreement will offer Coalition-represented employees competitive wages, excellent benefits, generous retirement income plans, and valuable job training opportunities that support their economic well-being, advance our shared mission, and keep Kaiser Permanente a best place to work and receive care,” the Oakland-based healthcare system said in a statement.
Some 75,000 union workers nationwide staged a 72-hour strike Oct. 4-7, citing pay and short staffing among their grievances. They threatened to strike again in November if an agreement wasn’t reached this month.
