Kairoi Austin Tower Plans Moving Forward

Kairoi Residential is still in the planning stages of a 66-story tower at 701 W. Sixth St. The Austin Planning and Zoning Commission has okayed a part of the plan, allowing the company to double its floor space.

The Austin Business Journal reports that the project is entitled to more floor space than the previous zoning allowed. The number of units it can now have has been increased to 413. Its location has a few low-rise structures that would have to come down for the project to proceed. Kairoi Residential bought the property in 2020.

Kairoi is also involved in building the tallest tower in Texas, called Waterline, at 98 Red River St. It recently finished what was, at the time, the tallest tower in Austin, Sixth and Guadalupe (photo).

The City Council is scheduled to hold a public hearing on May 22 to discuss the project further.
