JV Looking to Build 1,000 Arizona Rental Units

Valtus Capital Group and BRUIN Capital Partners have formed a team to focus on working with apartment and home builders in the Southwest. Called Capro, it is being led with $100M of new cash equity capital, with a target of $500 million assets under management for its first fund.

The Phoenix Business Journal reports that plans call for starting in Arizona. Valtus Capital bought 30 acres of vacant land in Buckeye and 40 acres in Casa Grande, and that’s where the company intends to build more than 1,000 units, at a cost of $400 million.

Each parcel in Buckeye and Casa Grande (pictured) will include about 250 traditional garden-style apartments and about 250 build-to-rent (BTR) detached single-story homes. Each of the projects will be built in phases, with the first phase at the Casa Grande project to be BTR.
