JV Embraces Pickleball’s Popularity by Serving Up New Sports Venues
A joint venture partnership between Hubbard Street Group and College Park Athletic Club will bring Pickle Haus, a sports-themed venue, to Chicago. The location at 1621 S. Randall Road in suburban Algonquin will be the first of as many as five Pickleball themed destinations in the area.
The project will transform the 41,000-square-foot furniture store into a Class A sports “eatertainment” facility, including pickleball courts, golf simulators, a restaurant and bar, and event space. Hubbard Street Group has owned the vacant building since 2018, and the development team also includes Food Is Family, Harken Interior Design, Hirsch MPG, William A. Randolph Construction, Greenberg Traurig and Phlox Partners.
“Our vision for Pickle Haus is to provide a pickleball-focused entertainment experience that is unmatched in the industry,” said Graham Palmer, Managing Partner, Hubbard Street Group. Pickleball is the fastest-growing sport in the U.S., projected to be a $2.4 billion sport and entertainment sector by 2028.
