Juno Beach stops growth

Juno Beach May Enact Building Moratorium

Juno Beach’s Planning & Zoning board unanimously backed a temporary moratorium on new multifamily, mixed-use, and commercial development applications. The stoppage won’t apply to already approved but unbuilt commercial real estate projects.

If passed by the city council, the moratorium on new development applications will last either one year or at the completion of Juno Beach’s Community Vision and Master Plan process, whichever comes first. The purpose of the moratorium would give council members more time to formulate a new master plan with the help of the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council that will help control development and preserve the northeast Palm Beach County town’s small seaside character.

The South Florida Business Journal reports that South Florida developers have sought new frontiers of development across the tri-county area to build new apartments, condos, and homes for a wealthy demographic that continues to migrate into the region from other parts of the nation and the world.
