Judge Upholds Approval of $3B World Logistics Center
Connect Inland Empire returns on October 6. See the agenda & register here.
The City of Moreno Valley’s approval of Moreno Valley-based Highland Fairview’s proposed $3-billion World Logistics Center was upheld by Riverside County Superior Court Judge Sharon Waters. The ruling found that the city council didn’t circumvent state environmental laws.
The 2,600-acre campus development is planned for 40.6 million square feet, and slated to be constructed over 15 years. Lawsuits alleged that the project violated the California Environmental Quality Act.
Controversy arose when the council elected to approve the project, rather than place it on the ballot without a public vote. The city believed that the proposed project received strong community backing, including nearly 50,000 signatures supporting it.
