JPS Planning $2.5B Overhaul of FW Medical Campus
The JPS Master Facility Plan includes the construction of a new hospital and an expansion of the existing Pavilion, replacing aging facilities with modern spaces that enhance safety, comfort, and efficiency in patient care. The JPS facility currently has 600 beds. The expansion is expected to cost $2.5 billion.
The Dallas Business Journal reports that three facilities have recently opened at the current campus:
- An 80,000-square-foot JPS Psychiatric Emergency Center
- The new Medical Home Southwest Tarrant health center at 5001 Mesa Springs Drive
- The Las Vegas Trail Health Center, a collaboration with Cook Children’s Health Care System
An outpatient facility should open in early 2029, providing services such as laboratory and imaging, an ambulatory surgical center, retail pharmacy and provider clinics, with the remaining facilities to open in 2030. The money to fund the project is coming from Tarrant County bonds and cash reserves from JPS.
