Johnson & Johnson Building $2B Wilson Pharmaceutical Plant

Johnson & Johnson has begun construction of a 500,000-square-foot biologics manufacturing facility in Wilson, North Carolina, about 50 miles outside Raleigh. The $2 billion project will expand its capacity to deliver medicines for people living with cancer, immune-mediated and neurological diseases. This event is part of the Company’s announcement that it is increasing its U.S. research and development, technology and manufacturing investments to more than $55 billion over the next four years.

The investment will bring more than 5,000 high-wage manufacturing and construction jobs to North Carolina. Once fully operational, this facility will directly employ over 500 specialized employees and contractors, including process technicians, laboratory analysts, engineers and microbiologists.

Additionally, the Company estimates it could create approximately 5,000 construction jobs during the site’s development and that the investment will have an estimated economic impact of $3 billion statewide during the first 10 years of site operation.
