John Lennon & Yoko Ono’s Old SoHo Apt for Sale
JLL Capital Markets has been retained to market the sale of a two-story loft-style building at 496 Broome St., once owned by John Lennon and Yoko Ono. This historic property, their New York home in the 1970s, is being offered for sale for $5.5 million for the first time in 53 years.
Situated on the North side of Broome St. between Wooster St. and West Broadway, the building features a gallery-like ground floor space with 14.4 ft. ceilings, an open kitchen, and a bedroom loft. The top floor includes a large live-work space and a one-time recording studio. With 4,600 square feet of air rights and zoning permitting three additional floors, the total gross floor area could reach approximately 7,500 square feet above grade, pending Landmarks approval.
JLL’s Investment Sales and Advisory team is led by Paul Smadbeck and Guthrie Garvin. “496 Broome St. is both a unique piece of New York history and popular culture and a prime investment opportunity for the right buyer,” said Smadbeck.
