JLL Creates, Opens Its Own Retail Store

JLL has created its own retail concept and opened the first store under the new brand. Featuring handcrafted goods from local artisans, the 4,000-square-foot Rose & Loon opened its doors recently at the Rosedale Center in Roseville, MN, which JLL leases, manages and markets.

“Our store is the first-of-its kind retail concept carefully created and built by the retail management team,” said JLL SVP Bill Moston. The firm spent over $1 million to bring the concept—a permanent store rather than a pop-up shop—to fruition, and “in the first two months of operations, it’s already paying off in spades.”

Added Lisa Crain, general manager of Rosedale, “This is a bold move to invest in the property by creating a retailer that will have a positive impact on both our customers, and the performance of our property.”

The Rose & Loon opening in late September came as part of an $80-million renovation of the regional mall, which also included the opening of a Von Maur department store in October, followed by the November opening of a two-floor food hall known as Revolution Hall .

JLL is launching the second phase of redevelopment of Rosedale, which has been a regional draw since 1969, by repurposing the vacated Herberger’s box. Plans call for 425 residential units, a full-service hotel and an additional 200,000-square-feet of retail, dining and entertainment space incorporated into a village setting, with an outdoor gathering place for entertainment.
