JLL Completes HQ Lease for Sandbox at Richmond’s Davenport Building

JLL completed a 6,576-square-foot lease in the Shockoe Slip district of Richmond, Virginia. Sandbox, a Richmond-based consulting firm and provider of fractional finance and accounting, HR, business operations and recruiting services, will occupy the ground-floor space at 1401 E. Cary Street as its new headquarters this month.

Originally constructed in 1870, 1401 E. Cary Street occupies a prominent corner at Cary and South 14th streets in Richmond’s historic Shockoe Slip district. JLL’s Kaylin Farruggio and Charlie Polk represented Sandbox in the transaction. Farruggio and Gareth Jones, in partnership with John Jay Schwartz of Have Site Will Travel LTD, represented SNP Properties. JLL’s Katie Chalmers, vice president, PDS, assisted with the buildout; RCS Commercial Moving & Warehousing handled moving logistics for Sandbox.

“Companies continue to prioritize workplaces that support culture, collaboration and employee experience,” said Gareth Jones, senior managing director, JLL. “1401 E. Cary Street offered Sandbox a rare opportunity to secure a highly visible headquarters location with authentic historic character and a turnkey creative office environment.”
