JLL Brings 1.2M-SF Former Eugene Hynix Factory Back to Market

The 1.2-million-square-foot former Hynix computer chip factory in Eugene is being marketed for sale again. The 200-acre site at 1830 Willow Creek Circle once housed a workforce of 1,100 employees and 300 contractors, but the memory chip market downturn forced the South Korean owners to shutter it 12 years ago. So far, several subsequent owners have not been able to reopen the facility.

Avago/Broadcom, a communications chipmaker, acquired the factory for $21 million in 2015, with plans for a $400-million retooling. It eventually decided not to move forward, and the site was acquired by Corning for $13.4 million in 2017.

A three-day auction on Ten-X is set to conclude on March 25, with the bidding starting at $1.5 million. JLL’s Eric Haskins and Tyler Sheils are handling the listing. Hynix invested $1.5 billion in 1998 to build and outfit the manufacturing campus.
