JLL Adds Sears Veteran as Restructuring VP in Retail

JLL has added Nick Karafotias to its Midwest restructuring team as VP of restructuring, based in Chicago. In this role, he will work nationally with JLL retail clients who are looking to restructure their existing real estate portfolios.

Karafotias has more than 30 years of combined experience in retail, management and consulting positions. He joins JLL from Sears Hometown & Outlet Stores, where he was the real estate manager and a JLL client.

During his 12-year tenure at Sears, Karafotias also managed new store development, and store planning functions.

“As a prior client, I understand the challenges faced by JLL clients in today’s competitive market,” said Karafotias. These challenges range from the growth of online shopping to rising real estate costs. “I look forward to using my experience to work with clients to achieve their restructuring goals.”
