Chicago Housing Authority’s Jewell Walton Joins Evergreen
Jewell Walton has joined Evergreen Real Estate Group in the newly created position of vice president of public partnerships. Walton, who joins Evergreen from the Chicago Housing Authority, will focus on diversifying the firm’s affordable housing portfolio by partnering with public housing agencies to convert assistance for existing public housing communities to long-term, project-based Section 8 contracts.
At the CHA, Walton most recently served as deputy chief of Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) programming, with CHA’s RAD portfolio being the second largest in the nation. Prior to her time at the CHA, Walton was a project manager for S.B. Friedman & Company for more than 10 years, where she directed numerous market and financial feasibility studies for affordable housing developments throughout Illinois.
Walton holds a Bachelor of Science in business administration and sociology from Illinois Wesleyan University, as well as a Master of Urban Planning and Policy from the University of Illinois Chicago.
